Kill The Clipboard
No-Setup SMART Health Links Guide
This page lets a patient share a portable health record by QR code or SMART Health Link. The record is retrieved directly from the link, decrypted on request, summarized as FHIR resources, and displayed for review without asking the patient to fill out a clipboard form.
1. Capture the Link
- Ask the patient to open the QR code or SMART Health Link in the app or service that holds their record.
- Use Use Camera to scan the QR code from another device.
- Use Scan Image when the patient provides a screenshot or photo of the QR code.
- Paste a copied
shlink:/...value or a viewer URL that contains a SMART Health Link.
2. Retrieve the Record
- Select Retrieve Data after the code is scanned or pasted.
- The page sends the SMART Health Link to the Co-Management system so the encrypted payload can be fetched and decrypted.
- Expired links, malformed links, unreachable files, or invalid encrypted payloads are rejected before any record is displayed.
- Only synthetic sample data is shown in the built-in example. Real patient data should come from the patient at the time of intake.
3. Review the FHIR Summary
- The retrieved record appears in the Retrieved Record panel.
- Patient demographics are shown first when the FHIR bundle includes a Patient resource.
- Resource badges show what kinds of FHIR data were included, such as Patient, Observation, Condition, MedicationRequest, or DocumentReference.
- The resource table lists each summarized item, its note or description when available, and its effective or authored date.
4. Open Notes and Documents
- DocumentReference attachments appear as buttons below the matching resource summary.
- Click an attachment to open it in the same page, inside a closeable document viewer.
- PDF toolbar controls are hidden when the browser honors viewer parameters, and common copy, save, print, and right-click actions are blocked in the embedded viewer area.
- Browser-level controls cannot be treated as absolute document protection once a file is delivered to the browser.
5. Try the Built-In Sample
- Select Read Sample to load the current synthetic KTC example and immediately retrieve it.
- Select Copy Link to place the sample SMART Health Link on your clipboard for testing from another browser or device.
- The sample is not a real patient and is included only to demonstrate the no-setup workflow.
6. Replace Clipboard Intake
- Use this page as a front-desk intake tool when a patient can present a SMART Health Link.
- The current public page is intentionally view-only and does not import records into a chart.
- An authenticated Co-Management menu option can embed the same page later and add patient matching or import workflows in provider context.
- When the shared data is incomplete, continue normal intake for the missing details rather than treating the SMART Health Link as a complete chart.
Operational Note
SMART Health Links are patient-mediated. The patient controls whether they share a link, and each link may expire or contain only the resources selected by the source system.
